Our work
Everything we do is run by volunteers, for the good of bees, beekeepers and the wider community.
Training & workshops for beginners
Practical introductions to beekeeping: how a colony works, handling bees safely, equipment, inspections and the beekeeping year in Malta. We encourage every new beekeeper to learn before buying their first colony.
Support and mentoring for members
Newer members can be paired with experienced beekeepers who answer questions, visit apiaries and help with the first seasons. Members also share advice informally at meetings and events.
Pollinator awareness in schools and communities
We visit schools, local councils and community groups to explain why bees matter, how to tell a bee from a wasp, and what everyone can do to help pollinators.
Promoting local Maltese honey
We champion honey produced by local beekeepers and encourage responsible, honest labelling so that people know what they are buying.
Advice on bee health and pests
We share up-to-date guidance on Varroa, brood diseases and the Oriental hornet, which attacks colonies especially in late summer. Members are encouraged to report problems early and follow advice from the competent authorities.
Working with authorities and others
We cooperate with the authorities and other organisations on matters that affect bees and beekeepers, and represent our members' views where decisions concern them.
